You can check back on this page often! I will keep it up to date with the most current information I know. This is also a great place to leave notes of encouragement to a wonderful friend. I'm sure they would be appreciated.

Casey announced to her friends that she had been diagnosed with cancer. She wasn't feeling well, and went to the doctor. Several tumors were found in her uterus, and on August 8, the path report came back with the news, "endometrial adenocarcinoma, stage IIIB with a survival rate of 50%." The cancer was so aggressive that surgery was scheduled within weeks.

Casey went in for surgery first thing in the morning. Surgery was a success, but left Casey in an immense amount of pain. It's the best that can be expected for now.

Despite everything, including being in the worst pain of her life, Casey still has a sense of humor. Her Facebook post of the day: "I'm awake ans have been most of the night.
I'm not in as much pain, I've been trying to stick to the med schedule
so I don't get so far behind that can't catch up. I'll be here again
tonight and I'm seriously considering eating my day planner as an
alternative to hospital malto meal. Ick."
Someone bring this girl some food! :)

Casey is home and under strict orders not to lift anything heavier than a magazine. She's still in pain, but happy to be home.

Radiation treatments begin! Not having experienced them personally, I cannot comment. But seeing movies about cancer patients, I know no part of it is fun. Extra prayers, please!

Guess who is back in the hospital? And how does she still have humor? "I like the hospital so much, I'm back in it
for an infected incision. Awesome. Thanks everyone for the nice calls
and messages. I'm somebody else's problem for at least a day!."

Casey is home again. And medicated. And spending time with her family, hopefully from the couch. Did I mention the huge rain and wind storm raging outside her house? As if there is anything else she needs to be worrying about.

So, tissue samples came back from the Path Report. Apparently, some of them were cancer free. Just some, but that's better than none. Which translates to fewer days of radiation treatments. Only two per week instead of three. For Casey, that means less time feeling sick and awful, and more time with family. Hooray! One small victory can go a long way.

Attack of the Brown Recluse! This is when we all say, "Can't you just catch a break?" Poor Casey...bitten by a poisonous spider. At least it just looks gross.
Hey Casey, I still remember making slam books in the long house we made behind the portables in 5th grade. You were always nicer to me than I deserved. You and your family are in my prayers and dont listen to what they say about survival rates. Those numbers dont apply to you. prayers on prayers on prayers from an old friend :)
